The box of Order and Chaos had a notable growth within the final 50 years. the most cause used to be using pcs, and the advance of latest theoretical tools that we name now 'the concept of chaos'. the writer describes this interesting interval in a peaceful and occasionally funny autobiographical method. He relates his interactions with many folks in dynamical astronomy and he prices a number of anecdotes from those interactions. He refers additionally to his reviews while he served in quite a few overseas positions, akin to basic secretary of the IAU and chairman of the magazine Astronomy and Astrophysics. in recent times the speculation of chaos has been prolonged to new parts, like relativity, cosmology and quantum mechanics and it keeps increasing in just about all branches of physics. The e-book describes many very important principles during this box in an easy approach. It refers additionally to difficulties of extra basic curiosity, like writing papers and giving lectures and the interplay of authors and referees. ultimately it supplies a few worthy customers for the way forward for dynamical astronomy and comparable fields.

At the Institute of Space Studies I did a lot of work on resonances in galactic dynamics. The director of the Institute was Dr. R. Jastrow and he was very generous to me. He had two secretaries and a draftsman at my disposal and I gave them quite some work to do. Furthermore, he invited a young post-doc to work with me. This post-doc had done his thesis with Chandrasekhar on oscillations of incompressible stars. His work indicated the existence of a third integral in this case. We discussed what should be done to promote this subject further, but then I had to leave for Greece.
Brouwer, she interrupted us and said: “There is no comparison with the Contopoulos meeting. ”. Many meetings of the same type followed in later years. But the Thessaloniki meeting was always remembered as the first meeting on dynamical astronomy. 11. IAU COMMISSION 33 After the IAU Symposium No 25 we had the IAU General Assembly in Hamburg (1964). There I had an unexpected and happy surprise. Bart Bok, who was then president of Commission 33 (Structure and Dynamics of the Galaxy), a successor of Oort and Blaauw, proposed me as vice-president of the Commission, implying that I should be his successor as president after three years.
But later the KAM theorem was improved to such a degree, that one now finds numbers that are of the same order as the numerically found limits of applicability. 1). Figure 5. J¨ urgen Moser at a meeting on “Space Mathematics” in Cornell University (1963). While I was at Yale I had my first invitation to give a seminar in another University. I was invited by Malcolm Savedoff to go to the University of Rochester to speak about the third integral. The interest on this topic increased considerably over the years and I gave a large number of lectures about it all over the United States.
