Jason Dill continues musing on SF, learning how to do tricks, and the respect, style, and art of skateboarding. Some words inspiring to any creative.
It’s no surprise skateboarding has made a big impact on my youth, just like every Californian. Their attitude, creativity, and philosophy have bred and meshed together with so many subcultures because by definition skateboarding is an act, not a trend, genre or clique. Even though I don’t skate as much anymore, I still find akin to the idols I grew up with. Jason Dill spills some words on The Gonz, the diversity in skateboarding, and the originality that breeds from it. Enjoy.
There’s all sorts of interviews online with Ed Templeton. I remember back in the days of Huntington Beach skatepark and seeing him ripping there. Then skating all the way back to some apartments where Geoff Rowley & Tom Penny lived and trying to scrape some money together for some shirts or decks and whatnot. Those were the days. Ed has always been an inspiration, I think for all the generations of skateboarders since him. And now, artists as well. Here’s one from a year ago uploaded by Emerica Europe.
This is Chris Johanson musing on his ideas of life, love, and the universe. Filmed by Aaron Rose for the recent collaboration between COMME des GARCONS and Generic Surplus. Below is a pair of shoes from the collection.
Kicking this off with Crailtap’s Clip of the Day: What’s Up Fat Bill? It’s a profile on William Strobeck, a photographer/videographer from New York based in LA. Interview from Hypbeast here. Below is a aesthetically pleasing clip with Chloe Sevigny, amongst others.
